Telehandler Training Courses - Gold Card Training Facility
Working in conjunction with Phil Newby from the EWPA Association, YG Lifting Solutions helped pioneer the New Telehandler Gold Card Training Program. With combined industry experience of 16 years, Managing Directors of YG Lifting Solutions, Paul Gray and Andrew Young are accredited “Train the Trainers” for the New Telehandler Gold Card with the EWPAA on a national basis.
YG Lifting Solutions offers Telehandler Training in each state of Australia on a regular basis.
Training can be provided onsite, tailor designed to the clients particular Telehandler.
Why Do I need a Gold Card to operate a telescopic handler?
Every State in Australia has in place an Occupational Health & Safety Act (OH&S), which aims to protect the health, safety and welfare of people at work. In these acts, it is clearly stated that there is a duty of care to ensure workplace safety. It specifically states that:
- Employers must provide information, instructions, training and supervision necessary to ensure the health and safety of employers at work
- Employees must co-operate with efforts to comply with OH&S requirements. What this means, in reality, is that there needs to be some form of proof that the operator has been trained in the safe use of a telescopic handler. Verbal instruction tends to be hard to prove in the court of Law, so the favoured solution is something in writing- hence the Telescopic handler Ticket (or Gold Card)
The Gold Card initiative meets the two key objectives of the OH & S Acts, being:
- It confirms that the operator of the telescopic handler has been trained in the safe use of the machine
- The employer and user all have documentary evidence that the required ‘duty of care’ has been met or exceeded.
